Our Team Scott Lubeck – Vice President & General Manager Scott has thirty years of experience in publishing and managing publishing technologies. He joined NewsStand as vice president and general manager in August, 2007. Previously, he served as chief technology officer at Harvard Business School Publishing and led the digital publishing initiative that successfully transformed the company from a traditional print-based publisher to a multi-format and multi-channel, customer-focused media company. Before HBSP, Scott served as the Perseus Books Group’s vice president and managing director as well as the publisher of Westview Press. Prior to his time at Perseus Books, he founded NewRivers, Inc., a management consulting and software development company whose clients included Microsoft and Red Herring. Scott began his career as an acquisitions editor at the University of Texas Press in 1977. Guy Tasaka – Managing Director/Director of Marketing & Strategy Guy has 22 years of leadership roles in marketing, business development and product management in the publishing and technology industries. He spent six years in the magazine industry with IDG and Ziff Davis in marketing management for a number of their publications, including Macworld, MacUser and MacWEEK magazines, and 11 years at The New York Times in advertising, strategy/planning and circulation. Guy was the product manager for The New York Times e-Edition, developing branding and educational marketing campaigns as well as overseeing search, affiliate and partnership programs. During this time, he was also responsible for marketing and customer acquisition in emerging categories, including small business and multi-cultural. Guy began his career at MEC Labs, a leading online marketing research and consulting firm that specializes in process optimization, search engine marketing and search engine optimization. Blake Pollard - Business Development Manager Blake has more than six years of publishing experience. He spent three years as the owner and publisher of NSIDE, an Austin, Texas-based magazine. For the past three years, Blake has been at NewsStand supporting marketing, publisher relations and business development. With his unique blend of experience, Blake understands the demands that publishers face and the constantly changing environment of the industry. Steve Martinez – Digital Product Manager Steve has 12 years of professional online experience -- ranging from webmaster to entrepreneurial R&D project manager for online solutions. Working for a decade at a startup company, he helped pioneer an e-commerce solution for a new market. Prior to his entry into the online realm, he served in the U.S. Army as a cavalry scout and sniper. He prides himself on keeping abreast of the latest technological gadgets and is a self-proclaimed geek. Matt Wilson - Product Development Project Manager Matt is an engineer with a broad range of skills gained from a life-long love of technology. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003, he joined a small group of entrepreneurs that were developing a new method of quickly constructing high-rise buildings. For three years, he served as a jack-of-all-trades with functions ranging from engineering consulting to web design and multimedia production to new product design and research. Joining NewsStand in 2006, Matt now supports the marketing and product development team where he is able to apply his technical skills to help create the newest generation of NewsStand products.
